Hey guys, i need some help...
I just downloaded the FTB Ultimate pack and wanted to start a new world but before i spawn in the world it always says "Shutting down internal server". Then i have to close minecraft via the task manager. This is what i found in the console:
2013-03-30 15:05:36 [INFO] [STDERR] Exception in
thread "Thread-39" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space
2013-03-30 15:05:36 [INFO] [STDERR] Exception in thread
"Server thread" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space
2013-03-30 15:05:38 [INFO] [STDERR] Exception in thread
"Thread-35" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space
I tried starting the pack with more RAM (at the moment i'm at 2.5 GB) but it didn't fix the problem. Has anybody some ideas what i can try?

If you haven't tried already, you could try:
1. Updating/redownloading/reinstalling Java
2. Redownloading the FTB launcher
3. Force-updating the pack that you are using
4. Starting a different world (you may have spawned inside a very, very laggy biome that uses a lot of RAM, such as a redwood biome; these ExtraBiomesXL biomes have very tall trees which are painful to render and often drop lots of saplings on startup, straining the CPU and RAM; a new world may fix this)
5. Posting a full crash report from the console to pastebin and then linking to it here
If all the above fails and you have a decent amount of technical knowledge with computers:
6. Confirming that your computer is a 64-bit systemandthat you are using 64-bit Java. An easy way to do this is to go to your C drive in Windows Explorer; if you have two Program Files directories with one appended with (x86) then your computer is 64-bit. If, in the regular Program Files folder that does not have x86 appended to it, Java is installed (look for a folder named either Java or Oracle), then you are using 64-bit Java. This is important because 32-bit Java has a limit to the amount of RAM it can allocate (probably not a problem in this case, though, unless you start allocating inordinate amounts like 8 GB) and it uses RAM less efficiently. This may not help you fix the problem, but it could allow you insight as to why it occurs.

I tried several new worlds but always the same problem. After force updating it's stuck at "Loading world. Building terrain". I use 64-bit Windows 7 with 64-bit Java. When i try to paste the report from the console to pastebin it says:
[16:09:26] [ERROR] PastebinPoster.run:94: Read timed out

Have you tried deleting your FTB launcher and re-downloading it?
Have you played any other modpacks before?
Also try bumping up your RAM allocated to FTB even higher.
I assume the console chucks errors at you when the world's generating. If so, copy anything red you find in your console (or with a [WARNING], [ERROR] or [SEVERE] tag) and paste it here.
Try disabling little mods like ChickenChunks. That one was problematic for me.
If none of those work, maybe you could try getting on another computer and see if it works on there. If it does, just copy all the files over onto yours.

I played FTB Beta A and Mindcrack pack before and it worked without problems
Haven't tried downloading the launcher again, but i'll try it when i have faster internet
FTB now uses 3 of 4 GB RAM of my computer... I don't think i can give it any more
And sadly i didn't notice any errors while generating the world. I watched the console and there was no message saying [ERROR] or something else. The only message i got from the console was the OutOfMemoryError i posted above. I'll try launching it again and post the console messages

On the same note as ZL, here are some mods you could try disabling to see if it helps. These mods are often not crucial to gameplay and are (more often than not) more aesthetic than anything else:
ChickenChunks (alternatives are present, such as the World Anchor in Railcraft) and EnderStorage (only complicates vanilla ender chests further)
extrabiomes, which is VERY laggy and sometimes buggy; see previous post
FlatBedrock (only makes bedrock flat; unnecessary, but helpful sometimes with quarries etc)
InventoryTweaks, which adds sorting but is not crucial to gameplay
Anything that begins with the word "voxel", the mod integratedsoundpacks, and "liteloader" in Jar Mods. I've had numerous problems with these, as all they do is make things "prettier" and cause megalags and compatibility issues with other mods such as OptiFine.

i waited for 15 to 20 minutes but nothing happened. I think i'll try disabling some of the mods and see if it helps
I diabled ChickenChunks, extrabiomes, FlatBedrock, InvTweaks and everything with voxel. Now it works I hope i dont run into other issues while playing..

[INFO] [STDOUT] Wrong location! pe['Sheep'/3950,i=world name ',x=107.00,y=63.00,z=220.04]
This is due to a corrupted chunk. In the future, please create a separate thread for your issue.

Corrupted chunks are generally hard to fix, they usually involve deleting region files to remove the bad chunk. You can read up about this exact issue here: http://ftbforums.org...ed-advice-asap/
